Tips for Before your Tattoo appointment

  • Get a solid nights rest the night before your appointment. You’ll want to be as comfortable and rested as possible. Avoid staying up late the night before.

  • Eat a good meal before the day of your appointment. Your body is going to need all the nutrients it can get during your session. It’ll keep you comfortable and help sustain your blood sugar.

  • Stay hydrated. Start consciously drinking water the day before your appointment. Drink a full glass of water before bed and a full glass of water when you wake up. Drinking water will hydrate you and your skin, which makes it great for tattooing.

  • Do not drink alcohol the night before or day of your tattoo appointment. Drinking thins the blood and can lead to unnecessary bleeding and possible poor ink retention.

  • Do not take Ibuprofen or any other pain reliever prior or during your tattoo session. Those medications can thin out the blood and can lead to unnecessary bleeding and possible poor ink retention.

  • (Optional) Lightly exfoliate the area once or twice a week for up to 3 weeks ahead of your appointment. Removing dead skin can lead to a smoother tattoo application.

  • *Extra Credit* Lotion the area once or twice a day in the weeks leading up to your appointment. Hydrated skin is great for tattooing!
